Loyalty to Self? A Reflection.
When 2019 was drawing to a close, I wrote an article on the need to take yourself seriously in regard to the goals you set and the promises you make to yourself. I titled it 'Loyalty to Self’, and I was incredibly full of hope for 2020.
I’m here to say that I was able to accomplish great stuff, but not through loyalty to self. It’s an important principle, and I reckon that many people will find it useful at many points in their life.
Perhaps the issue is that loyalty to self is dependent upon willpower.
The exertion of sheer willpower doesn’t really work; at least not for me when it comes to major goals and big decisions.
God’s grace saw me through, and made things relatively easy. He helped me stay the course in ways I didn’t believe that I could.
My 2020 wasn’t a bed of roses, but as I like to say, Jesus never promised us a bed of roses on earth. In fact, what He promised was quite the opposite. Hehe.
I found answers to many of my questions about God and Christianity, and my relationship with God grew appreciably. My surrender to God’s will and God’s ways became more real, especially toward the end of the year.
I’m incredibly grateful for all I am, and all I have.
If you’re willing to seek Christ and forsake all others, Christ is willing to be with you and give you all the grace that you could possibly need— for everything.
If you don’t have a relationship with Christ, you can have one. He loved you so much that He died for you to erase your sins and fault.
You accept Him by receiving that sacrifice, asking Him to come reside in you, and making a decision to truly follow Him.
Cheers to 2021. In this year, I will record win after win after win.
